CAEN offers a number of web and email services to Michigan Engineering faculty and staff including:


Faculty, Research or Administrative websites

Web Publishing Service

To support Michigan Engineering faculty and staff with their website needs, CAEN offers a Web Publishing Service using WordPress for managing content with the goal of allowing you to focus on the content and message that you want to share. This service is available to any faculty, academic or research group that has an affiliation to Michigan Engineering. Our Web Publishing service comes ready to go with an Engineering branded template and suite of commonly needed plugins. Users of this service are not able to add their own templates and plug-ins.

Other Hosting Options

ITS offers Pantheon at U-M, a service hosted on the Pantheon platform, for individuals or units that wish to build more highly customized websites in WordPress or Drupal. Note that this service is provided by ITS and may be subject to billing and other requirements.

CAEN also works with Communications & Marketing to host the Michigan Engineering website, news center, and departmental sites hosted through their group. For feedback on the look and feel or content on that website contact Communications & Marketing at [email protected].

Michigan Engineering Built Web Applications

Performance Reviews

CAEN, with direction from Michigan Engineering HR, built a Performance Review system that is used for staff performance reviews at Michigan Engineering and other schools and colleges that are interested. If you are interested in learning more about the system contact [email protected].

Transfer Credit and Equivalencies

The Transfer Credit Approval Form (TCAF) is designed for current undergraduate Michigan Engineering students to have courses pre-approved before their enrollment as a guest student at another college/university.

Departmental Applications

Several web-based applications exist to help faculty, staff, and students in Michigan Engineering departments gain deeper insight into University data, and use it in ways that improve day-to-day productivity. Several examples include the Course Information Center, Online Purchasing System, Visiting Scholars, and Faculty Activity Reports.

3rd Party Software Support

Salesforce CRM

Salesforce is a cloud-based constituent (or customer) relationship management (CRM) system that Michigan Engineering uses to enable easy management and analysis of interactions. Michigan Engineering CRM participates in two different collaborative Salesforce campus organizations: one focused on students and recruiting and the other focused on alumni. These tools are available to departments and administrative units within Michigan Engineering. 

CAEN services regarding Salesforce include data management, email marketing support, email analytics, training, and consultation. Depending on your use case, individuals in your unit may or may not be issued a license. Staff assigned to your project will be determined upon review of your specific needs.

Faculty Search

The University of Michigan licenses use of Interfolio’s By Committee tool for faculty hiring and searches.  To get started with creating an application and review site for your open faculty position contact [email protected].

Google App Scripting

As many of our administrative units utilize the Google Workspace tools, CAEN can help automate some processes by creating custom app scripts. To see if your use case is a good fit for this, contact [email protected].

Project Management/Business Analyst Support

CAEN works in collaboration with the RPM Business Intelligence team to work with members of the Michigan Engineering community to reduce their administrative burden by improving both process and technology. This project based work includes support through project managers and business analysts.

Consultations

Michigan Engineering faculty and staff who have needs for additional assistance should contact the CAEN Web Services Team. Staff members who have expertise in identifying solutions – based on a variety of technologies – and are available to meet, evaluate your needs, and connect you with the right resources .

CAEN’s role may include capturing requirements, identifying and evaluating potential technology solutions, building a solution,  or brokering an engagement with third-party vendors.
