Gerstacker and ERB I & II Power Shutdown – Saturday, October 21

On Saturday, October 21 from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., maintenance will be performed on the electric high voltage substation for the Gerstacker and ERB I & II buildings. The buildings should not be occupied during this time due to lighting, ventilation, networking, elevator, and life safety system service interruptions. CLSE Server Maintenance – Thursday, November 16

On Thursday, November 16 between 5:00 and 8:30 a.m., maintenance has been scheduled for servers that support the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE). This maintenance is intended to apply security patches, correcting recent operating system and software application vulnerabilities.

The following services may experience an outage during the above maintenance timeframe:

  • Linux Login Service (accessed as login-course-2fa.engin.umich.edu, oncampus-course.engin.umich.edu, or restricted-course.engin.umich.edu), also known as the “VNC” servers.
  • Some applications on CLSE for Windows computers, including via the Windows Remote Desktop Service.

Resolved: ITS MiStorage Maintenance – Sunday, October 8

On Sunday, October 8 starting at 4:00 a.m., ITS will be performing maintenance on the MiStorage servers that host CAEN Windows home directories. The maintenance is expected to last until 7:00 a.m. During that time, users may experience brief outages while attempting to access their Windows home directories. Resolved: STAR-CCM+ Licensing – Friday, September 29

Update: New licenses for STAR-CCM+ have been installed.

The STAR-CCM+ software license is scheduled to expire at midnight on September 29, 2017. CAEN is working with Siemens to renew the license, and we expect to have a replacement license soon.

This outage will impact use of STAR-CCM+ in CAEN Labs, on Flux, and in College of Engineering department and private labs.


Resolved: CLSE Server Maintenance – Monday, September 25

On Monday, September 25 between 5:00 and 8:30 a.m., maintenance has been scheduled for servers that support the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE). This maintenance is intended to update the Cloudpaging software-on-demand service, enabling additional methods of software deployment to users in CAEN Labs.
