CLSE Server Maintenance – Thursday, June 15

On Thursday, June 15 between 5:00 and 8:30 a.m., maintenance has been scheduled for servers that support the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE). This maintenance is intended to apply security patches, correcting recent operating system and software application vulnerabilities.

The following services may experience an outage during the above maintenance timeframe:

  • Linux Login Service (accessed as,,, or, also known as the “VNC” servers
  • Software applications available on CLSE for Windows computers, including via the Windows Remote Desktop Service

Resolved: Beyster Network Upgrades – Wednesday, May 10 to Friday, May 12

On Wednesday, May 10, Thursday, May 11, and Friday, May 12 from 5:00 to 8:00 a.m. on each day, ITS will be performing upgrades to network hardware that supports the Beyster Building. During this time, both wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) networks will be affected. Further information on these outages is available on the ITS Service Status page:

Resolved: Spoofed/Phishing Emails that look like Shared Google Docs – Wednesday, May 3

Update 3:40 p.m.: ITS has stopped new messages, but some may still yet be delivered. As stated, do not click on any links in these messages. Delete them immediately.

As of 2:30 p.m., we have been receiving reports of spoofed/phishing email messages that look like shared Google Docs. Beware of these messages, and do not click the links. Further information has been posted to the ITS Service Status page and the U-M Safe Computing website.
