Specific Software License Requirements

Certain software applications made available in the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE) have specific license use requirements of which users need to be aware. The information below is to inform you of terms the University of Michigan has agreed to and which compliance is required. For information on general use restrictions of the software titles in the CAEN computer labs, refer to the CLSE Software listing as well as the general Software Access & Licensing Restrictions page.

Software Requiring Prior Agreement to License Terms

Some software licensed by the College of Engineering can only be used after individuals have agreed to specific terms of use. The terms will be made available and a form will be provided with the information CAEN needs to process the request. CAEN administrators review all requests and grant access accordingly:

  • Cadence Pointwise
In order to gain access to Cadence Pointwise, you must first read the Pointwise License Terms (U-M login required) and then complete the Pointwise Access Request Form (U-M login required).  After you have completed the form, your name will be submitted for a denied parties screening for export controls.  Once you have passed the screening, you will be given access to the software.

Software with Research Publication Requirements

Some software licensed by the College of Engineering has citation or other publication requirements when used in research. If an individual is using any of the listed software titles listed, they should check for any research publication or citation requirements. We have also linked articles to publication information for specific College-licensed software when notable (U-M login required):
