Features
Panorama is an accessibility tool integrated into Canvas that helps instructors make digital course content more accessible to all students. It automatically scans course files uploaded to Canvas and provides detailed accessibility reports, including readability scores, document structure analysis and recommendations for improvement.
Panorama also generates alternative file formats—such as audio, ePub, HTML and tagged PDFs—that students can download directly from course pages to suit their individual learning needs. This tool supports inclusive learning by helping instructors identify accessibility barriers and by offering students flexible access to course materials.
Access
Panorama is enabled by default in all U-M Canvas courses. Instructors will see accessibility indicators next to supported file types in their course content, along with access to detailed reports through the Panorama Accessibility Report link in the course navigation menu.
Students can view and download alternative file formats by clicking the Panorama icon next to files in Canvas. These formats are automatically generated and updated whenever the original file is changed.
