Features
When adding or editing text in Canvas, you can check the accessibility of your content using a built-in accessibility checker. This tool allows you to design course content while considering accessibility attributes. The Accessibility Checker will test content within a textbox/Rich Content Editor.
The Accessibility Checker verifies the following accessibility rules:
- adjacent links
- heading paragraphs
- image alt text, image alt filename, image alt length
- large and small text contrast
- lists
- sequential headings
- table captions, table header scope, and table headers
Access
Log in to Canvas using your U-M login credentials. Open the desired Canvas course, and locate a Rich Content Editor or text box (by opening or adding a page, assignment, announcement, etc.). Once in a text box, enter the desired content. The Accessibility Checker icon will appear in the toolbar within your content area and will indicate if any accessibility issues are detected.
