DesignPLUS is a comprehensive suite of tools from Cidi Labs designed to enhance the course-building experience in Canvas. It comprises three main components:
- The Sidebar: An intuitive interface that allows instructors to create and style engaging, organized, and professional-looking content without requiring any HTML or CSS knowledge.
- The Multi-Tool: A time-saving utility that enables rapid course setup by allowing users to design templates for pages, quizzes, and assignments, and then deploy them to create consistently structured modules.
- The Upload/Embed Image Tool: This tool facilitates working with images directly within Canvas, enabling users to upload, crop, resize, and embed images, as well as access free, high-quality images from sources like Pexels and Unsplash.
DesignPLUS supports both new course creation and updates to existing Canvas courses, providing greater control over course structure and visual design and ensuring content is accessible by design.
Access
DesignPLUS is available to College of Engineering instructors upon request. If you are in Engineering, contact caen@umich.edu to start using the tool in your Canvas course. Otherwise reach out to ITS at 4help@umich.edu.
