Features

Slack at U-M (U-M Slack) is a collaboration tool that enhances workgroup communications. It provides a searchable platform for individuals and groups to chat in real time, share content and keep conversations organized and accessible from anywhere, anytime.

U-M Slack includes:

  • Dedicated channels or workspaces for individual topics, courses, projects or teams
  • Direct messaging
  • Public channels that anyone can find and join, and private channels that only those invited to can access
  • Searchable history in all channels
  • Ability to share content in channels
  • Slack Huddles for live conversations
  • Slack Connect for easy communication with external Slack workspaces

Access 

  1. Go to slack.umich.edu.
  2. Click Sign in with U-M Weblogin and sign in with your uniqname and U-M password.
  3. Click I Agree to accept the Slack Terms of Service. 
  4. Click View Details on the appropriate tab under Workspaces at University of Michigan
  5. Click Launch in Slack. You are now a member of U-M Slack.

More Information

Sensitive data can be sent via Slack. However, you are responsible for using Slack appropriately and ensuring appropriate precautions for sensitive data in U-M Slack.
