Features
There are three main captioning/transcription tools available to use with Zoom. These help make video conferences and webinars as accessible and engaging as possible for all participants.
The captioning/transcription tools include:
- Live (auto-generated) transcription
- Live transcription uses automatic speech recognition (ASR) to caption meetings/webinars in real time. Users can click the CC icon when in a Zoom meeting to turn on this feature.
- Communication Access Realtime Transcription (CART)
- CART involves a human typing a transcript in real time while someone is speaking or while a video is playing. Most Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, and some individuals with visual processing disorders, require the level of accuracy that CART provides.
- Audio transcription for cloud recordings
- This tool provides an asynchronous text version of audio. This type of transcription is seldom a first choice for captions, but may be useful when synchronous captioning is not available.
